Who is your favorite Muppet? Why?
QotD submitted by knitwitology.vox.com.
Though he isn't a Muppet in the strictest sense -- because to my knowledge he's never appeared on The Muppet Show -- Telly Monster is still my favourite. I don't really know why; maybe because he's never anyone else's choice and I feel sorry for him. But on the other hand, he has a kind of virtuous dignity in his obscurity.
What food did you despise as a child but now really enjoy?
Hmm, this is a tough one. There's lots of food I apparently loved as a child but which I now find disgusting (it's a long, long list, so let's keep it snappy and just say 'most vegetables, except potatoes').
The other way round, however, is a different story. I guess I didn't like the idea of curry when I was a child, but I've loved it since my teens. Ditto for pasta dishes (though if they've got mushrooms or sea meat in them, no thanks).
And I guess cold meat in sandwiches is another one. I used to be revolted by the idea of it, maybe because this one time I was eating a chicken sandwich at the beach and some sand got in it, and (in a possibly unrelated incident later that day) I threw up. Yuck.
But I changed my mind a few years ago when I ate a meat sandwich on a flight home from somewhere, and I actually enjoyed it! These days I rarely have a sandwich without some form of chicken or turkey in it.
Other than that, though, I can't think of anything else.
Man, I'm fussy about food.
